At African Law Associates, our Visiting Lawyers Program provides practical training in the Uganda and East Africa to visiting lawyers who already have experience in the areas that are mutually beneficial to us.
With an already existing alumnus, the epitome of the Firm’s Visiting Lawyers Program has been the substantive nature of the experience provided: our visiting lawyers do not learn by observing others at work, they learn by active involvement in our work and our public interest litigation team.
Visiting lawyers are actively involved in the client work of the office.
They are generally expected to perform legal work on an engaging level and they join teams of lawyers assigned to client matters. They also participate in the Firm’s formal training programs for associates.
Most visiting lawyers are assigned to our Consulting practice that covers all areas of corporate advisory, social enterprise advisory, lobbying and public interest litigation.
Visiting Lawyers work with a number of different partners and other associates.
Visiting lawyers receive their assignments through the same assignments system as regular associates, although the Partner on the program, particularly at the beginning of the year, makes a special effort to ensure that Visiting Lawyers are receiving the sorts of assignments that they desire.
So whether you are from Morocco or Atlanta, Lilongwe or Bangladesh, New York or Guangzhou, we are always happy to hear from you and have a mutually beneficial experience.
